Welcome

This blog is about sports cards. I tend to only purchase cheap items so don't come hear expecting to see big money cards. My teams collections are Chicago White Sox and Michigan Wolverines. I also have a bunch of player collections.

Free Ebay Purchase

Here is another free (Ebay bucks) card. I only had $3 or $4 in Ebay bucks so I made some of my cheap purchases.

ebay07

Free – 1960 Topps (Purchase Price-$.76/shipped)

In my final Free purchase from Ebay, I was really shocked to win this under $1.  Now that my free purchases are done.  I’m thinking I may set my sights on finishing some vintage team sets.  I have a few that I only need 3 or 4 cards to finish them.

Trade with Greg

Greg contacted me about a card he had that he thought I would want so we worked out a trade.  Here’s is what he sent me.

trade-grega01

Assorted White Sox cards, all these are new to my collection.  Greg did a great job of hitting what I needed.  I like the looks of the Turkey Red cards at the top, I only had one of them before I got the other 3 from him.

trade-grega03

As you can see, a great assortmant of Sox cards.  I think the 2 on the left (the Thomas and the Valentin) were seriel #’d.  I already put them away so I’m not positive.

And the card that started it all.

trade-grega02

A 1971 Topps Billy Williams.  Awesome!  It’s hard for me to get Billy Williams vintage cards because I’m cheap so it’s awesome to get these in a trade.  This was the 2nd vintage card of Billy Williams I got in a trade the week these came in.  The other is here.

A great trade, I just hope Greg was satisfied with what I sent him because I didn’t have too much to send his way.  Be sure to check him out over at “The Collective Mind”.  Thanks for the great cards.

Player Collection Spotlight–Paul Konerko

In this series, I randomly select a card from my player collections and show it off here. Being that it’s random, it could be a base, insert, parallel, auto, relic or any other kind of card I have. It could be from Paul Konerko, Tom Seaver, Luis Aparicio, Billy Williams, Dave Dravecky and even Mike Hart or Peyton Manning. I will put a mark next to it on my PC list so it doesn’t get repeated.

A Just Because package, I think

Um, I don’t remember trading for these or if they were a just because package, but what I do know is they came the “the Diamond King

trade-diamondking03

4 Awesome Frank Thomas cards.  I really like the 2 SP’s at the bottom.

trade-diamondking01

All new Tom Seaver cards for that player collection.  I remember being surprised at all the Seaver cards in this package.  I love the 1982 Fleer and the 1981 Donruss, I had those as kids.

But wait, there’s more.

trade-diamondking02

Kevin also sent me these 2 vintage Seaver’s.  I remember having the 1979 Topps on the right when I was a kid.  I always love getting a card I remembered having as a kid.  It always brings back great memories to receive those kinds of cards.

A truly awesome package from Kevin, be sure to check him out at “the Diamond King” and Kevin, if I still owe you cards, let me know.  I will do my best to make good.

I have Wednesday and Thursday off this week so I plan on getting some packages out on one of those days.  Not sure which ones but I probably won’t ship them all.  Way too expensive for me.

Free Ebay Purchases

I know have some packages to send out, I haven’t had much time to get with those.  I did get a few out last week.  Just letting you all know I haven’t forgotten about anybody.  I still have all the emails saved and hopefully I will get some more out before or after this weekend, since I will be out of town all weekend.

Here is another free (Ebay bucks) card. I only had $3 or $4 in Ebay bucks so I made some of my cheap purchases.

Trade with Jeremy

Jeremy of “No One’s Going to Read This Blog” contacted me about a trade.  We traded some 73’s back and forth as we are both collecting the set.  Plus I hit his want lists (mostly White Sox cards).  And he sent me these.

trade-jeremy01

All these are new to the White Sox collection.  I was in a Gypsy Queen break and didn’t get the Moonshots Frank Thomas card so that was great to receive.  If these were not great enough he hit a player collection as well.

trade-jeremy02

I thought I already had this, but it was a different version.  Possibly a chrome version.  Always grateful for Manning cards because I never pick them up for myself.  I like him and the collection, I just don’t do much in football.

He also sent me this one, but the write up for that is over here,  But here’s a pic of the card anyways.

trade-jeremy03

I might be the only Colt fan who is also a Tom Brady fan but oh well, I can’t root against my Wolverines.

Thanks again Jeremy.  You’ll see the 1973 cards he sent as well if I ever get around to continuing my 1973 and 1981 Topps posts.

Free Ebay Purchase

Here is another free (Ebay bucks) card. I only had $3 or $4 in Ebay bucks so I made some of my cheap purchases.

ebay04

Free – 2002 Upper Deck Baseball Heroes (Purchase Price-$.27/shipped)

A new addition to the Tom Seaver collection for $.27.  Hell yeah!  I don’t get to add to many Tom Seaver when doing my cheap Ebay purchases so this was a great purchase.

Box Break cards

I’ve been jumping in on some Box Breaks, quite a few of them over at “JABO’s”.  I like Kyle’s box breaks because he costs adjusts in accordance to the team and since the White Sox get no love, I can get them cheap.  First up is 2012 Gypsy Queen’s

boxbreak-jabo

I like Gypsy Queen but I think I just like the sets that mix today’s stars with vintage stars.  I’m not overly huge on how cards themselves look.  Sure I have favorites and ones I don’t like, but the look doesn’t stop me from buying it.  John Danks, Frank Thomas, Luis Aparicio and Paul Konerko.  All going to the White Sox collection.  What?  But your supposed to fill your player collections first and you have a Luis Aparicio and a Paul Konerko?

boxbreak-jabo02

That’s right, the only 2 dupes I got and I needed them both.  Thanks Kyle!

I think the rest of these were all in the same break but I’m not positive.  Kyle tends to throw bonus cards in as well so some of those may be mixed in there.

boxbreak-jabo03

2003 Bazooka’s – I didn’t have anything from this set so everything Kyle sent me, I needed.

boxbreak-jabo04

2003 Fleer Flair – I’m surprised I didn’t have the Frank Thomas, I have a crap load of his cards.  Joe Borchard was one of the “Next Big Things” that never panned out.

2008 Upper Deck SP Authentic – I did have some of these but I didn’t have the card above.

boxbreak-jabo05

2005 Topps Chrome – Again, I didn’t have anything from this set so everything went to my collection.

I see Kyle did box breaks of these but I don’t think I was in on them so I’m going to guess that these were extra’s he sent me.  He’s cool like that.

boxbreak-jabo06

2001 Topps Stadium Club – There is some great photography in this set judging by these 6 Sox cards.

boxbreak-jabo07

1995 Dimesion III – These are just cool.  Love the Frank Thomas card.

Be sure to check out JABO’s for all your box break needs, and he’s a great trader as well.  Check him out, he’s always got something going on.  That man is non-stop baseball cards.

I have a Topps Archive break from Kyle to, but I haven’t scanned it yet.

Free Box Break Goodies

Community Gum” held a free box break awhile back.  With me always being behind on my blog reading I’m amazed that I was able to get in on it.  Obviously I took the White Sox.  Here’s my loot from their 2003 Leaf box.

boxbreak-communitygum01

All 3 All-Stars, all had huge years with the White Sox.  And all are new to my White Sox collection.

boxbreak-communitygum02

2 different Frank Thomas Passing Through Time.  One is a Press Proof.  I thought I had scanned the back of them but I couldn’t find the scan.  Or I forgot to scan the back, either way, you don’t get to see them.  On the back of both of these is what I’m guessing is a preview for the 2004 Studio set.  I had never seen these Leaf cards with a preview on the back.  Both of these are obviously new to the White Sox collection.

boxbreak-communitygum03

And what makes good on a White Sox box break, additional cards for the player collections.  I always hope to get 2 Konerko’s but I only got one in this break.  So I still need one of these for the White Sox collection since I fill player collections first.

Big thanks to “Community Gum” for the FREE box break.  I was always late getting in their other ones.  So make sure you bookmark them and check them daily.

Free Ebay Purchase

Before I get to the free cards, if your wondering why I haven’t been around much in the last week or so, you can read about it here.  Otherwise, carry on.

Here is another free (Ebay bucks) card. I only had $3 or $4 in Ebay bucks so I made some of my cheap purchases.

ebay03

Free – 2012 Topps Golden Moments Parallel (Purchase price $.61/shipped)

I went a little over my usual budget but I couldn’t resist a gold Konerko.  I won it with a $.06 bid with $.55 shipping.

Also while I have your attention, “It’s Like Having My Own Card Shop” is having a contest, you have all day today to comment for a chance at 2 prizes.  Jersey and Auto’s, and a bunch of Gypsy Queen.  Best of all, it’s all free.
