Welcome

This blog is about sports cards. I tend to only purchase cheap items so don't come hear expecting to see big money cards. My teams collections are Chicago White Sox and Michigan Wolverines. I also have a bunch of player collections.

New PC

My last post of January's pick-ups with one day to spare. I finally remembered to get my cards from my mom (from my cousin, she visited him in NC last week) and just skimmed through them. There were some 2020 Topps Sox cards which would have been awesome except I already bought them on Sportlots and those will be here tomorrow. I did get a Michigan auto that I was looking forward to. Duplicates actually, so Dennis might see one as well if he doesn't have it already.

On to today's post though. This guy was a beast for us and I have been trying to at least get a few of his cards.

These 2 cards give me 2 cards in his collection. That's right, these are the first 2 cards. Now you see why I've been trying to get a couple. Hopefully, the first 2 of many. Obviously, they both are going to the Michigan collection as well since he's in his maize and blue.

Las Vegas Mo

* I put my January purchases on random for today's post.

One of the last 2 posts for this month. Good thing I got cards coming on Saturday for next month. I have cards at my mom's from my cousin as well if I could actually remember to pick them up.

Today's cards are another former Wolverine. When I see him, I picture him after a sack, rubbing his belly.

Big Mo Hurst. Last I heard, he's been pretty good for the now, Las Vegas Raiders. He was supposed to be a top 5 pick in the draft but it came out that he had a heart condition and he dropped into the 5th round. I remember thinking a lot of team were going to regret passing him up. These 2 cards put my Hurst Collection into the double digits with 10 cards.

3 for Trey

* I put my January purchases on random for today's post.

All I got left are Michigan guys (at least for this month) so the only question is, is this going to be a basketball player or football player.

I picked up 3 more Trey Burke's which gives me 17 of his. He's tied with Mitch McGary for the 2nd highest amount of basketball player collection. Of course, I only have 125 basketball cards in my collections and they all would be former Wolverine players.

Paulie! Paulie! Paulie!

* I put my January purchases on random for today's post.

I've almost finished putting/verifying/deleting all my card books on TCDB. After that, I have to start with all my boxes of cards. I'm thinking Vintage collection first because it would be quicker.

On to today's post, and it is a biggie. I went searching for some cards to add to my favorite players collection. I ended up getting quite a bit.

I'll start with the non White Sox cards. I do like seeing the Dodgers (and Reds) cards of Konerko, if not only to relish the fact that they gave him up and he ended up in Chicago. I have never seen those Stand Up cards, they're 2 other players on the back. I assume you fold it in the middle and the card stands.

The Upper Deck versions of the Konerko's. I like the purple Future Stars at the bottom. I wasn't aware of those parallels either.

The vintage looking cards of Konerko. 3 Heritage and went ahead and threw the Crack Jack in as well.

Some more Topps. I guess technically, that bottom card is vintage like as well since it's Heritage. Oh well, it's a floating head card so it can go anywhere it wants.

Last but not least, the Bowman section. Again, Vintage like but who's counting.

I am counting, that's who. That's 18 more cards to the Konerko collection which puts me at 21 for this year, which is more than I got in the last 2 years. It also puts me at 457 different cards of Paulie.

Only 3 more posts for the month and 5 more days so I'm right on track. My cousin sent another box of cards that I should get tomorrow and I am awaiting my Sportlots package for next month's posts later this week.

Spring Peppers

* I put my January purchases on random for today's post.

I just got back from the Sportlots website, purchasing this weeks cards. For those that don't know, I purchase around $5/week from Sportlots. I don't spend any more than $.50 on each card, usually under $.25 for most. I use the box shipping option and the Friday around a week left in the month, I ship what has showed up there so far so I get it before the beginning of the next month.

We'll start off with these 4 of the former Wolverine. He was a stud at Michigan. I haven't heard that much from the pros but then again, I don't watch the pros either so that doesn't necessarily mean much.

I saved the best for last. It's best because he is in the maize and blue on this card so it goes in the Michigan collection as well.

These 5 cards of Peppers make 12 in his player collection. That makes 8 that I've picked up this year already and 4 in the last 3 years. Using Sportlots is definitely helping out the PC's because I don't just wait to come across something like I did on Ebay.

Spring Training started today for the Sox where they just finished off the Reds, dropping a 4 spot in the 9th for some cushion. I'm looking forward to tomorrow's game because I believe it will be on TV and I'm so ready to watch some baseball. Even if most of the players I know will be gone by the 2nd inning.

Agent Kirk

* I put my January purchases on random for today's post.

Today's cards go into my, um, well, not really any of my collections. Yes, I looked for them and purchased them from Sportlots, but they don't fit into any of my collections. I just wanted them.

Yes, I admit it, I'm a Trekkie. I've been wanting this card for awhile and it never popped up in my price range on Ebay but now that I use Sportlots, I looked for it and bought it.

Of course, I had to get a card of Agent Carter from the Marvel universe. Of course, it doesn't hurt that she's hot and I've always had a thing for girls in athletic wear and baseball caps. Judging by the card, she even looks like she knows what she doing.

I still haven't figured out where to even put these cards, they are still sitting on my desk waiting for me to decide.

Hump Day Thunder

* I put my January purchases on random for today's post.

You get more Michigan alumni today which you should probably get used to. Most of what I have I have left for the month is. 4 of 6 are so there you go.

I picked up a couple more of McGary. These 2 give me 20 now of him. Nothing overly fancy here but that 2nd card is at least a good action shot.

3 Singles

* I put my January purchases on random for today's post.

I pulled up one of my single card purchases (player collection) so instead, I'm going to drop 3 of my single card purchases in one post. They are all related as they are all previous Michigan alumns.

We'll start with the only of the 3 that also goes to the Michigan collection. Just because they took the wings off his helmet doesn't mean you can fool me. This is my 10th card of Chesson. I already had the gold version of this so now I have the base to go with it.

I also picked up another Caris LeVert for his collection. This is my 12th card of LeVert and I have none in a Michigan jersey. I'm not sure I've ever seen one either.

Last but not least, the actual card that got randomned for this post. James Bourque was my last player collection to start (until I get my next cards from Sportlots). This is only my 2nd card of his as I just started his collection last month. As of now, TCDB only shows 41 total cards so hopefully that will go up so I have a better chance of continuing this collection. I'm thinking if he's getting these kind of cards, maybe some Bowman this year? He was in last years, but only autographs.

Beltin' Bill

* I put my January purchases on random for today's post.

Only one card today but it does go into 2 different collections. White Sox collection and the player collection. He's a guy before my time but I like him in the pre and post game coverage around the Sox games.

This 1 card of Beltin' Bill Melton is from one of those SSPC sets. It is only my 13th card of Bill but according to TCDB, he only has 66 and I have all of his base cards from his playing days so his cards are fairly difficult to come by. This is the only one of the 13 that isn't a Topps card.
