Welcome

This blog is about sports cards. I tend to only purchase cheap items so don't come hear expecting to see big money cards. My teams collections are Chicago White Sox and Michigan Wolverines. I also have a bunch of player collections.

One Blogger, Lots of Cards

We set up in Shipshewana today and had a really good day. It was non-stop from once we set up until about 1 or 1:30. It was packed most of the morning. We barely had a chance to sit down until the afternoon. Which made great timing because about the time it started slowing down, John from John's Big League Baseball Blog stopped by to say hi. He had messaged me the other day and said he'd be at the show so we chatted while he looked through our boxes.

I should have put my head down so you could see my Michigan hat, plus it's crooked, good thing John is more photogenic than me. It was nice to meet another blogger, I think Dennis is the only other one I've met in person. I feel like I might have met another one at some point but my memory is failing me. Great meeting you John, look forward to next time.

Since John and I are both Michigan fans, it's only fair that the random give me some Michigan players for today's post.

I picked up these 3 parallels from Hollister at the Lansing Show. They came from the box we purchased from him. These 3 double the cards I have of this parallel. These 3 also give me 24 cards of Chesson.

I could copy and paste the paragraph above about Chesson here, except I only had 1 other prizm of Long. These 3 came from the same Hollister box as the above. These 3 give me 10 card of him.

The only card on this post that didn't come from Hollisters. This one came from Sluggo as part of the sorting. It's a rookie and he's in the Maize and Blue, I'll definitely take that.

I also got a plethera of Paye's from the same Hollister box. As you can tell, I picked out a bunch of cards from that box.  Lots of color parallels up there. These 11 cards of Paye give me 26 of him.

Rookie Hart

I finished logging the cards I got yesterday but I didn't get to scan them. I had to go over to my mom's for her 71st birthday party so I didn't get to spend all day working on them like I usually do on Sunday's. I plan on scanning them after work tomorrow but I'm not sure how much time I'll have because I have to stop by my LCS and drop off the box I sorted. Hopefully, he'll have another one for me to start (when I finish my scanning).

Today's post is came up to another Tier 3 collection but I randomed again because that Tier 3 collection has a card that I need to scan so I'll wait until I get it scanned. The 2nd random came up with a Tier 1 that I don't add to very often so I was happy to get these.

It's serial numbered too. It's a pretty cool looking card, would have preferred it in a Michigan uniform but still pretty cool. I like the fancy RB script and the color around the photo.

This card gives me 84 of him which is good for 11% of his cards on TCDB which is why I don't get too many of his. I have a lot of his base, it's all the parallels, autos and 1/1's that I need to start picking up. I run into his cards at shows all the time but they are in the higher price range that I don't like to shop from. I should bite the bullet and buy one every so often.

Saturday Star

Today's post is my all-time favorite Michigan player and unless you followed Michigan at the time, you probably haven't heard of him. I don't get to add to his collection a whole bunch as he didn't have much of a professional career so I'm always happy when I can add some.

I picked up these 7 (3 in the Maize and Blue) from Sportlots. I like the looks of the very first card. They are all inserts or parallels. 4 of them are numbered and you can see the XFractor in the bottom row.

These 7 give me 83 cards

1 Hart, 1 sleepy body

I'm very sleepy this evening so I'm just going to get to it.

Remember in my last post where I said I went through Hollisters half off box. He had the above card as well as 3 autographs but I already had all of those. This was the only one of his that I came across that I needed. It's a bronze rookie that's numbered.

Losing and name changing

Well the Sox lost 3 out of 4 to the Yankees, in Chicago. We have 5 with the Royals and then go to New York to play them again next weekend. Either our offense disappears or our bullpen blows it. For a team that's supposed to be so good, they are underperforming. I realize we have some injuries that were waiting to get back, but with the talent on this team, we should at least be competing most nights. It's getting frustrating but it's still early and we're only 3 games back. Luckily the AL Central sucks, again.

Sluggo and I went to the LCS and as soon as we walk in, Hollister was there. He's the guy that we buy a ton of stuff from when we go to some of the card shows. I get a ton of Michigan stuff. He sees us walk in and we say hey, then he says, I have my half off boxes with me. So we made sure it was cool with the LCS and he let us go through them. I ended up spending $49 with him, mostly former Wolverine cards but I also grabbed a few vintage so you'll see those in the rotation. We ended up spending some more money at the LCS but I only spent another $24 with him. All dollar cards,1 relic and I had 7 or 8 dime box cards that he threw in with all the other cards. Sluggo and I always throw our cards together, as is most card places, the more you buy, the more they discount.

Today's card came from Hollister. I ended up changing all the cards I've bought from him from being labeled card show, to Hollister because I buy so many from him anymore.

I picked up this numbered Elite of Kwity Paye out of his half off box. It doesn't have pink in it so I assume that's from the scanner. It was marked $4 so I got it for $2, actually less than that if you include the discount. This card gives me 12 cards of his.
