Welcome

This blog is about sports cards. I tend to only purchase cheap items so don't come hear expecting to see big money cards. My teams collections are Chicago White Sox and Michigan Wolverines. I also have a bunch of player collections.

Lots of Cal

Just a quick post with a lot of cards before I head off to bed. As you can tell, lots of birthdays in this stretch so I wanted to get a post out in between them.

Speaking of birthdays, this guy just had one last week.

Donruss/Leaf

Panini/Playoff

Fleer

Fleer Ultra

Pacific

Lots of Upper Deck

Lots of Topps

All of the above came from the last shipment from Sportlots. I should be sending out my next shipment soon since I'll be taking a hiatus from buying cards until work picks back up again. I'm still getting my hours, the problem is we are so slow that we'll be shutting down weeks at a time and I don't have enough vacation time for all of it. So I'll be cutting back until we start doing shows more regularly (in October).

I also grabbed 5 more of Cal from Sluggo. All inserts that we picked up when we bought out another table at the Mishawaka show last time.

These 83 cards boost my already #1 PC collection up to 895 cards, so close to that 900 mark.

Wednesday Roll Cal

Today we have a Tier 3 player chosen by the random. Right now, Konerko, a tier 1 player is my highest player collection but once I get to tier 3 players when searching on Sportlots, I have a feeling this guy will go in the lead. He's going to be closing in after all the cards today. A lot of different sources on his cards.

These top 2 cards came from Sportlots. The McDonalds (Donruss) at the top, I grabbed from a seller that I didn't have 4 cards from yet. The same for the bottom card only he had a bunch of 2020 Stadium Club so I ended grabbing more than 4 as I grabbed a bunch of Sox and PC cards from that set.

These 2 were part of my payment from Sluggo for listing a bunch of his cards on Sportlots.

A couple of cool looking cards. The Die Cut Finest is really nice.

Some art cards from 3 different brands.

The Topps Fire is a great looking card and I hadn't seen the Star card at the bottom before. The last 3 pics of cards all came from the Diamond King. Thanks Kevin!

There were so many cards of Ripken in this package that I just threw them up there to get them scanned. Some of those I was surprised I didn't have.

I like the leaf in the top right and the Legends in the center left. I remember buying a bunch of that Legends set back in the day.

A bunch of horizontals, that Stadium Club photo is pretty awesome. That last card is kind of creepy, I'm going to say it's the scan because I don't remember it being that bad.

As you can see, lots of Ripken's in this post. Dennis of Too Many Verlanders sent the last 4 scans as he is a mutual collection of ours. We tend to swap Ripken's quite a bit.

These 39 cards put the Ripken collection at 659 cards. Cal is 3rd with my PC's but with all the cards that they put out of him, I'm sure he'll bump right over Larkin and Konerko for my top PC once I get to my tier 3 players on Sportlots and I'm not real far from doing so.

80's Vintage

* I put my February purchases on random for today's post.

Today's post is all vintage collection cards. Nothing majorly vintage but they all go to the vintage collection all the same. I told you I finished my 1985 Topps set last month so I looked to see what set I was closest to completing and when I go through a sellers cards and finish and I have a little more money to spend, I picked up a few cards from that set.

I know, that set! It's the next set that I'm closest to finishing. The good news, I haven't picked up any more from the 1987 set since these and I have picked up some older ones for next month's post. These 6 cards put that set at 721 cards which is 91% completed. While I want to finish the set, I'm not really highly motivated to do so.

I got all these from my cousin's (Sluggo) last package. The 1984 Topps Ozzie puts that set at 322 cards (40.7%). All the 1983 Topps put that set at 143 cards (18.1%) completed. I also noticed I slipped in a Mike Schmidt card in the scan, I decided to leave it on this post since it's the only card I got of him last month, that card puts the Schmidt collection at 136 cards.

1984 All-Stars

I know it's Sunday and there is no mail, but I'm still playing catch-up so you get a post anyways. Be sure to check out my post on Too Many Manninghams from last night to see a bunch (7 cards) of autos and relic cards that I picked up of former Wolverines.

This card goes to both, the Gary Carter collection as well as the Vintage collection. I was a huge Strawberry fan growing up as well so I really like this card. I picked it up for $.16/shipped. It is my 114th card for the Carter collection and my 247th card in the 1985 fleer set.

2 days of Mail

I did get some more cards in the mail yesterday but I had some car trouble after work and then had a softball game so by the time I got home and showered, I just didn't feel like getting online to post so we'll do 2 days of cards today.

1981 Donruss ($.38/shipped)
1981 Donruss ($.54/shipped)
1981 Fleer ($.54/shipped)
3 cards, 2 Player Collections, a Fisk and 2 Schmidt's. All 1981. I believe I've bid on the Donruss Schmidt before and could never win it so it was nice to finally get it.

1981 Topps ($.12/shipped)
1981 Topps ($.24/shipped)
1983 Fleer ($.16/shipped)
1984 Topps ($.26/shipped)
4 more vintage as you can tell. I only put a quarter plus a few pennies (like I usually do) on the 1980's vintage which if you saw the last post, you know I still manage a bunch.

1987 Topps All-Star Set
I did get one for the White Sox collection as well, got it for $.54/shipped. I remember trying to get all these cards as a kid. I believe they were wrapper mail ins or something. I think I got most of mine from card shows and trading with other kids.

The next 3 cards I received today from 2 sellers.

1985 Fleer
1985 Fleer
Both of these 1985 Fleer came from the same seller. The Ozzie Smith goes to the Vintage Collection, I picked it up for $.26/shipped and the Ripken's card goes to the Ripken Collection, I grabbed it for only $.28/shipped.

2014 Topps Stadium Club Autograph
I picked up this auto of the former White Sox pitcher, I say former because he was traded in early June for James Shields, who hasn't exactly panned out, yet. I grabbed this auto for $2.99/shipped.

I'm not sure how my cousin ended up with the whole Diamond King set but he sent it to me so that's fine by me. I know he buys out other people's collections so that's probably where it came from.

1987 Topps ($.06)
1987 Topps ($.14)
1987 Topps ($.14)
I did manage to nab 3 off of Ebay as well and as you can tell, pretty cheaply at that. I don't put $.50 on certain sets cards that includes the 1986 and 1987 Topps. I only put $.20 max bid.
