Colorful NBA

We set up at the South Bend show yesterday. We had a pretty good show, sold a ton of wax (blasters & megas) and all 3 showcases had a few sales which is rare. NBA is starting so basketball is finally selling. MLB sells all year but usually tapers off some after the World Series. We also had some good pickups, you'll have to follow us on Instagram, Twitter or Facebook to see. What you won't see on there is we purchased another 2 row box of basketball color parallels. I did my usual and went through it for anything I needed and these are what I came up with.

I picked up this Larry Legend. It's listed as a Panini Prizm but it has the Optic logo. Either way, it's going to the collection.

I also grabbed 3 cards of Hardaway jr, as I said above, all color. The top right is a Silver, in case you were wondering. Tim is my highest PC count of a former Wolverine basketball player that isn't a Fab Fiver. These 3 give me 105.

Not a huge pickup but 4 more cards and I still haven't spent any money.

Another Maverick

It's only fitting that today's post is a former Wolverine basketball player since I just finished watching them lose to North Carolina. They played well, except for Dickinson, who we need to play well. That was the difference in the game in my opinion. Not sure how North Carolina has lost 4 games in a row. I know 3 of them were ranked teams but still, they looked really good.

When I uploaded the pic for this post, I had to look at my last couple of posts to make sure I didn't already post it.

I just did a post of Trey Burke in a Mavericks uniform and here's one of Hardaway Jr. The difference is, I have a bunch of him with Dallas. This is my 87th card of Tim, which is good for 2nd on TCDB but he is my highest rank basketball player by 35 cards.

the Hard(a)Way

I thought I was doing a birthday post today but apparently, on my spreadsheet, I put his day of death as his birthday, oops! I guess it's a good thing I screencap the baseball reference because that's where I noticed that it didn't say happy birthday. So instead, you get a current NBA'r.

I just got these from Sluggo as part of working the last card show. That Purple Disco on the left is pretty cool. I do like the color parallels, I just hate that I have to get so many of them.

These 2 cards of Hardaway give me 86 cards of him which is by far, my biggest basketball PC. He doubles Trey Burke who is in 2nd place with 43.

4 Players, 2 Sports

Just a quick post tonight. I volunteered to go in tomorrow morning so I'll be hitting the hay soon.

These 4 of Brazdeikis came from Sluggo. We picked up a box of cards at Baseball Card Exchange and I grabbed these for my own collection. These 4 give me 10 cards of Iggy.

That box mentioned above is also where I got these 3 cards of Hardaway but unlike Iggy above, I now have 84 cards of him. He's my highest basketball PC.

These 4 cards of Jourdan Lewis though, came from the last Sportlots package. That Unparallel at the bottom is a pretty slick looking card but you know the Maize and Blue is my fave. These 4 more than double my previous and bump his collection up to 7 cards

These 6 cards also came from Sportlots and also over doubled my previous PC. I only had 3 cards to start with so now it's up to 9. The previous 3 all had work out gear on so I was definitely happy to add some pro jersey, would have preferred Michigan but you take what you can get.

Catch Up Post

I've got some catching up to do. I bought a couple more cards over the weekend and then I got cards in the mail yesterday and today. This would be easier to keep up with if I would quit taking naps after work.

Sunday, my daughter took my debit card to go to Walmart to pick up something for us (I don't remember what now) so I told her to grab a couple more packs of 2019 Topps. Why the hell not? It was pretty much the same as the other couple, base and inserts. I needed 57 of the 68 cards, the rest were dupes. Also as what happened with the first couple packs, I got 2 White Sox cards.

Our super phenom rookie pitcher who's recovering from Tommy John surgery and our current starting shortstop.

Monday, I got 1 envelope but it had a bunch of cards in it

These 6 cards are all from 2013 Bowman Chrome Draft Picks & Prospects. How much did I pay? Nada. They came with the following cards that I won. Now, I know sometimes you get freebies thrown in but those are some nice freebies. So nice, that I went to the sellers store and checked to see if he sold these to someone else and mixed up and sent them with my purchase but I didn't see them anywhere. I'll take them. They came with these cards.

These 2 cards of the former Knick now, Tim Hardaway Jr, came in a lot of 2, that I won for $2.25/shipped. So under $1.25 each plus all the freebies. Great purchase in my eyes.

Then today, I got 2 envelopes.

I got these 3 cards for $.06/each/shipped. Apparently the seller was getting rid of some Orioles cards. I also won a Ripken card but when I went to log it in, I already had it marked. Oops, guess I'm out the quarter it cost.

Last but not least, I got this card which is the start of the Moritz Wagner collection. I've bid on a bunch of his auto's but this was the first relic I saw, and won. I picked it up for $1.99/shipped.

3 very different cards

I received 3 envelopes today with 3 very different cards. 2 Player Collections but 2 very different players and types of cards and a Vintage Collection pick-up. Let's see what we got.

We'll start with the Vintage collection pick-up. I grabbed this 1980 Topps for $.16/shipped. It is my 127th card from that set which puts it at 17.5% completed. I bid on a ton of vintage cards but I lose most of them and sadly, not by much, but I stick to my quarter bid otherwise I'll end up spending what I don't have.

I didn't think I'd win this either since it's an oddball and an oddball I never see on Ebay but I still managed to win it for only $.20/shipped. This is my 99th card of the Kid but at least the majority of them have been during his playing days. Topps hasn't overloaded us on his cards yet, they've put out a bunch just not like some other players.

I also picked up this former Wolverine relic card of Tim Hardaway Jr. This came across because the bidding started at a penny with free shipping. Since it was a relic card I went ahead and put $3 on it which ended up being my winning bid. I can't complain about spending $3 on a relic (even if it's probably even-worn) and it's numbered to /325. It is my 9th card of Tim Hardaway jr.

Really love the look of his card. I'm going to have to look and see if they have any more Michigan players in the Old School Colors set.

These 3 Denard cards put that collection at 24 cards. By far the biggest player collection since I went and added a bunch of Michigan alumni to my player collections. I'm pretty sure he's the only one in double digits of cards.

With his super bowl appearance and a couple of really good games in his rookie season this past year, his collection is gradually moving on up recently. These 2 cards put his collection at 7 cards. I picked up my first card of his at a card show in October and all the rest have come since the new year.

These 3 cards put his collection at 6 cards. I actually have a couple of pro cards of Hardaway jr since he had a decent rookie season. I haven't heard much from him this year but I don't really follow NBA much other than watching an occasional Bulls game. That is my first autograph card of his as well, even at $6 when I saw it, I wanted it since he was in the Maize and Blue.

I really don't run into any of his cards very much. This is only my 2nd card of his, both of the Maize and Blue variety.

I did manage to get one card off of Ebay. This card (along with the top one) puts my Burke collection at 5 cards and a few of those are pro cards as well.

Your going to see a lot of these this month as Dennis hooked me up with the complete set and there are a bunch of my player collections mixed in. This is my 3rd card of Hardaway and my first in the Maize and Blue. They will be worth looking at though because it is a great looking set.


I did buy a rack pack of 2016 Topps and I will eventually get around to posting it, I had decent feedback on the other packs that I posted as far as you all wanting some cards. I will try to get them out sometime this week but to be honest, my grandfather passed this past weekend and the Celebration of his Life party is tomorrow so I'm not sure what all I'm going to get done in the next few days. Since he's in town for the funeral, my cousin (Sluggo from some trade posts) and I plan on hitting a card shop that I found out about when I went to that card show in November.
