Welcome

This blog is about sports cards. I tend to only purchase cheap items so don't come hear expecting to see big money cards. My teams collections are Chicago White Sox and Michigan Wolverines. I also have a bunch of player collections.

Twofer Wednesday

I got nothing yesterday, but I did today. I received 2 envelopes today which blows my whole "I never get cards on Wednesdays" comment. Both cards are from player collections, one that I get cards for all the time and another that I rarely get. Let's break it down.

2007 Upper Deck Masterpieces
You had to know the one card was going to be a Ripken. I get a lot of his cards on the cheap. This one I grabbed at $.47/shipped. His collection is well over 200 cards now and I haven't checked recently but I would guess his collection would have the 3rd most cards. I know Konerko and Seaver are 1 and 2, the only other collection that might have enough would be Buehrle but I don't remember hitting 200 with him yet.

2016 Topps Archives
It was nice to see Topps add another card of Billy Williams in this years archives set. He doesn't get too much love anymore, at least considering how often Topps keeps throwing out retired player in almost every set. This is only my 61st card of Billy, I picked it up at $.50/shipped.

Monday madness

Today is going to be a quick post, even though I received 6 envelopes with 11 cards. It'll be quick because Mondays kick my ass. I tend to sleep in too much on the weekends and then Sunday night I can't go to sleep so I usually end up with around 4 hours sleep. Normally, I would come home and get online but after work I went and donated blood and by the time I got home, we were having supper. So I'm just now getting around to posting, and I'm sleepy. So let's get to it.

1981 Topps
Still need 9 cards for the team set. Picked this up for $.35/shipped.
1991 Topps
This card takes this team set down to 1 last card. Picked this one up for $.12/shipped.
1992 Topps
This card also brings this team set down to 1 card. I got this one for $.01/shipped. You didn't read that wrong, a penny.

1987 Topps All-Star Set
I remember sending in wrappers or game cards or something to get these. I grabbed this one for another $.12/shipped.

All 4 of the above came from the same seller and all go to the White Sox collection.

2016 Topps First Pitch
I had to pick this one up because it's a Sox card and because he's a Star Trek guy. I probably wouldn't have picked it up if he wasn't in the Sox uniform though. I grabbed this one for $.54/shipped. I do want the Haley Atwell as well from this set even though it doesn't really fit into my collection.

1995 Donruss Top of the Order
Picked this one up for $.06/shipped.

1995 Donruss Top of the Order
Picked this one up for $.06 as well. Both of the above go to the White Sox Collection.

1995 Donruss Top of the Order
Obviously, the last 3 cards all came from the same seller. I don't think I've ever seen this set so it was nice to grab 3 for my collections. I also only paid $.06/shipped for this Abbott for that player collection.

1983 Topps Stickers
I always like grabbing these stickers since I used to buy them up like crazy as a kid. This one came to me for $.52/shipped. This one goes to the Carlton Fisk Collection.

1989 Topps All-Star Glossy
The only player in this post to never play for the White Sox. I got this card of the Kid for $.30/shipped.

2006 Upper Deck Artifacts MLB Apparel #'d /325
I also picked up this relic of Tadahito Iguchi for the White Sox Collection for $3.49/shipped. Love the jersey swatches with pinstripes.

Sorry for the quick post, but I'm heading for bed. See you, hopefully, tomorrow with more cards.

Overboard

I hadn't gotten any cards the last few days which explains my absence. I did have a softball game (first one this year) on Thursday so that day worked out because I would have had to push to get a post out. I want to say this is the first time I've gone 2 mail days in a row without getting any cards, at least since I started posting what I got daily so for the last few weeks anyways.

I've been bored today, since it's very hot outside and I'm not messing in it. I'm watching my 3rd White Sox game (2 were DVR'd, this one is live and not going well) and have been messing around on my phone quite a bit. I've had a personal snapchat but I rarely use it, I mainly watch others (including the White Sox, Colts and Michigan Athletics) and was tinkering around with having a separate account for this blog, and I did it. I've posted a few today and we'll see how long I stay with it but it's up there and live now. The usernames is MySportsObsessn or if you're familiar with snapchat. there's this as well.
I don't know if the quality of the pic is good enough to use but there it is. My plan is to snap each card that I receive in the mail and post other sports related stuff that I am doing.

Since I'm talking about my phone, I should show off my new wallpaper as well, just because I think it's pretty bad ass and I love it.

I can't wait until August 1st when the new merchandise goes live. I already told my mom that I want a pair of Michigan Jordan's for Christmas.

The reason I called this post overboard was because of what else I did this morning. On Ebay, I am usually bidding on an average of 30 or so cards. I have all kinds of saved searches (68 to be exact), I check all my player collection and team collections searches for the most part, every day. I have saved searches for certain cards that I need to close out a team collection, I check those once a week. Then I have my vintage searches that I only check occasionally, sometimes every couple of months. Well, this morning I decided to go ahead and check my vintage searches and when all was said and done. I'm now bidding on 315 cards, yikes. I won't win them all, or at least I hope not because my wife would kill me, but right now I'm winning 223 of them. So that could mean that I'll have lots of cards to show off in the future.

You guys aren't here for all that though, are you? Let's get down to the cards. I did get 2 packages today, one player collection and one team collection.

2011 Topps 60 Years of Topps
I thought I had this one but it was probably another reprint of the same card considering Topps has been punching them out like crazy the last few years. I picked this one up for $.32/shipped.

2016 Donruss Diamond Kings Mini Relic
I also picked up this mini relic of Carlos Rodon, I paid a little over my usual budget of $3 for it but I have occasionally done that by putting the minimum bid if it's still low. I won this relic numbered to /99 for $3.49/shipped. I think that's still a pretty good price for a card that will probably rise as he becomes more known. Not that it matters to me what it's worth because it isn't getting sold.

A Wednesday shocker

I actually came home to envelopes today, on a Wednesday, I was shocked. Even better than 2 envelopes was the 5 cards inside. One envelope had 4 of them while the other only had 1. I even got a couple of great oddball cards.

2008 Topps Heritage
I picked this one up for the White Sox collection, it didn't look familiar so I assumed I didn't have it. I'll find out for sure in the next 10 years when I finally get all my cards logged in. I picked this one up for $.16/shipped.

1991 Leaf Studio
I picked this, not too flashy card of Barry Larkin up as well for $.30/shipped. I'm closing in on 100 different card of Barry but not quite there yet.

1990 Collect-A-Books
Now we'll start with the oddball cards. I picked up this card/book of Jim Abbott for $.27/shipped. I'm only 3/4 of the way to 100 cards for Abbott but I'm slowly getting there.

Does anyone (except Dennis) know what the top 3 have in common? Although, I probably gave it away by telling Dennis not to answer. The top 3 cards here are all former Michigan Wolverine players. 2 of the 3 played for the White Sox (Richard (obviously) and Abbott) and the other is a Hall of Famer (I shouldn't have to tell you which one.)

1988 Topps Rite Aid
I grabbed this card for $.45/shipped. It's one from a set that I'm not sure I've ever seen before but it is the 80's and they pumped out oddball sets like nobody's business.

1987 Ralston Purina
Remember the good old days where you could get cards all over the place. I used to buy all kinds of stuff I never ate because they had cards in them. I got this one for $.25/shipped, not bad for a quarter box find.

Not a bad day, 3 Wolverines, and 3 HOF'ers, all brought to you for less then $1.50

A rare White Sox Collection addition

I came home from work, picked up my daughter and then headed to my brothers house to work on his garage again. When I finally made it home I had 2 envelopes. There were 2 cards but one was of the birthday kind. It did have a check in it so we'll see if I end up spending that on cards. The other was one single, lonely card.

I do look at White Sox cards on the cheap on a daily basis but since there are so many, I generally only bid on the cards that stand out to me. Once I get everything listed, then I'll be able to check each card. There are so many inserts from the 90's, mainly of Frank Thomas, that I have and so many more that I don't so I usually just guess whether I have it or not.

2016 Topps Gypsy Queen
I thought this was going to be my first Todd Frazier in a White Sox uniform which is why I put a bid on it but that actually happened last week when Jeff sent me the 2016 Bowman sets, which you didn't know about since I only posted my player collections.  I believe this is my first 2016 Gypsy Queen though so there is that. I won this card for $.47/shipped.
