Welcome

This blog is about sports cards. I tend to only purchase cheap items so don't come hear expecting to see big money cards. My teams collections are Chicago White Sox and Michigan Wolverines. I also have a bunch of player collections.

Wednesday Paye

Well the Yankees are out, I'm not sad about that but to be honest, I wouldn't have been sad about Boston losing either. I don't really have anything bad to say about the Cardinals or Dodgers so I guess I'll root for the Cardinals for 2 reason. They are my grandma's favorite team and I'd rather face them than the Dodgers if the Sox can get to the final interleague series. It was a tough decision as the Cardinals are one of the hottest teams right now, but 106 wins scares me more. That's 106 wins for a wild card spot, that's crazy!

Today's post is another new collection. I actually got the first card of his at the National but I've picked up some more since then.

This is the card I got at the National, although, technically, I got it from Sluggo. He bought some random boxes of unopened cards from Blowout Cards. It came with a small box of these Wild Card cards. It's not even on TCDB so I'm not sure how easy these are to get.

These 3 came from the card show in Shipshewana on Labor Day. I'm pretty sure they were all in a dime box that I pulled a whole bunch of Michigan cards out of.

These 2 came from Sluggo while going through his boxes so technically, free. Or payment for sorting said boxes, however you want to look at it.

Last but not least, I got this 1981 Donruss look-a-like from Sportlots. It was the only one I picked up on there for less than $.50 which says a lot for the dime box cards I picked up up there.

So these pick-ups of the Colts defensive end take my Kwity Paye collection from 0 to 7 cards.

Butt on repeat

It's been awhile since I've added to this guys collection as well but I made up for it with the amount of cards I got to add.

We'll start off with his pro cards, even though 5 of them use the same photo which is forgivable for the Optic since they are parallels of the same card. I went back and looked, 12 of the 28 cards I have of Jake Butt are that same photo.

These 4 go along with the other 8 I have of him that are Michigan cards.

So I have 12 Michigan and 16 pro, of those 16 pro, 12 of them are that same photo above.

In case your bad at math, I added those 10 which bumped my Butt collection from 16 to 28.

A surprise star

I didn't post yesterday, between watching Michigan beat Wisconsin on TV, to traveling back and forth to Chicago to watch the White Sox beat the Tigers, I had a busy day.

We were debating on whether or not to even go to the game, the weather was calling for rain non-stop from late afternoon through Sunday. I would have hated to drive an hour and a half to get it cancelled and then come back home but we decided to go ahead and go and I'm glad we did. It rained the whole way there and even once we were there it was sprinkling but by the time the game started (after less than an hour delay), it cleared up and didn't rain again. The game was great as we were down 4 and came back and won it.

My last post was a player who we haven't seen here in awhile so today's post is a player we haven't seen here, at all. A new player collection and he's been waiting awhile to be featured. I've had cards of his since May, now you see why I changed the format of my posts to new PC's and the players who haven't been posted in awhile.

I picked up these 6 on Sportlots in May. He's been a pretty good success story his whole career. From D3 basketball to Michigan (D1) to being undrafted to becoming the highest paid undrafted player in NBA history. He's even set a couple of 3 point records including the fastest to 500 3 pointers.

I picked this one up recently from Sluggo while going through his cards. So I went from having no cards of Duncan to 7. Hopefully that will continue to climb.

Jake and the Fatman

We finally made it to Friday. It's been a long week at work and we are technically supposed to work tomorrow but I took the day off. I'm going to the Sox/Indians game in the evening. I could have worked and still gone to the game but I used it as an excuse to get off. Plus, that means I can watch the Michigan/Wisconsin game here at home and then head to Chicago. They are calling for rain from the afternoon through Sunday though so I'm not sure if the game will actually happen. We're technically still fighting for home field advantage so I don't think they will just cancel the game so that leaves a double header on Sunday but it's also supposed to rain that day as well so I don't know. I'm just hoping I don't drive all the way there and it get cancelled.

Enough about my boring life, today's post is a QB that transferred over to become our starter. It's been since January of 2020 since I've added cards so I could definitely use these.

Some rainbow action there at the top and the picture even transferred to one of the bottom cards. At least you get an action shot on the Playoff. These 5 cards all came from Sportlots and almost doubled my Rudock collection to 11 cards.

For those curious about the title of the post, Jake would be Rudock and since I talked about my plans tomorrow, I'm the fatman. Titles are hard, especially after 1800 posts.
