Welcome

This blog is about sports cards. I tend to only purchase cheap items so don't come hear expecting to see big money cards. My teams collections are Chicago White Sox and Michigan Wolverines. I also have a bunch of player collections.

Throwback Thursday Mail Day

I did get a couple of cards today. A vintage card and a, well it looks like a vintage, card. Technically though, it goes to the Sox collection. Let's get to it.

2016 Topps Heritage
It's a Heritage so it looks like a throwback, that counts, right? Picked this up on Ebay for $.19/shipped. It was listed as a high number, I don't know if that means the same thing as the vintage sets or not, I'm guessing not since I got it for $.19. Obviously, this is going to the White Sox Collection.

1978 Topps
Ah, an actual vintage and it only cost a penny more. Grabbed this one for only $.20/shipped. It goes to my Vintage collection. It is the 113th card from the 1978 Topps set which puts it at just under 16% completed.

Ripken Mail Day

I did get 1 card today in the mail and it's another player collection. Which isn't surprising since that's pretty much all I bid on. I do bid on White Sox cards and Michigan cards too but not as often. This past week I did bid on a bunch for the Vintage collection and have already won some so you'll see those in the future.

But, back to today's mail.

1988 Fleer

I get to add another Ripken to the collection, I pick up more cards of his cheap than I ever imagined I would. This is the 257th card for the Cal Ripken Jr Collection and I picked it up for $.23/shipped.

Monday Mail Day

Before I get started on today's deliveries, I wanted to update you a bit. You may remember months ago when I said I purchased 3300 (give or take) 1980's cards from my cousin for a penny a piece. I finally got everything organized and updated and these are the sets that were most affected.

  • 1982 Donruss - 63% completed
  • 1985 Topps - 43% completed
  • 1986 Donruss - 71% completed
  • 1986 Topps - 82% completed
  • 1987 Topps - 87% completed
The top 3 listed up there weren't very far as far as my progress went but as you can see, they got a pretty good boost. The '86 Topps set was around 42% and the '87 Topps was around 80% when it started so as you can see, it still boost them up a bit.

On top of that, I met with Dennis of "Too Many Verlanders" and "Too Many Manninghams", the 2nd one being by far the best of the 2 blogs. We met at a Meijer in Ann Arbor on my way to the Michigan/Illinois game back in September and swapped cards. As usual, I gave him a few, he gave me a box full. He's definitely the most generous trader because I've told him I don't have much and he still keeps giving me stuff. He's awesome like that.

Most of the box were more '85 Topps that were mentioned above. After finally getting all those logged in, he bumped that set all the way up to 88% which pretty much doubled it. I didn't want to go without mentioning it because he's been a huge part of my collections. As always, thanks Dennis.

Now, onto the cards I received in the mail today. I received 3 but when I went to log them in, I realized I did already have one. Oops! Part of the card wasn't listed in the description and I didn't pay enough attention to the picture to realize I already had it. I only wasted $.15 so there's at least that.

1994 Action Packed Minors
I picked this up for $.17/shipped. I didn't think I'd win it, I've never even seen it before so I figured since it was a little harder to come by that I wouldn't win it. Guess I was wrong. This is the 97th card in my Michael Jordan Collection.

2013-14 NBA Hoops

I don't get to many of his cards, especially in Michigan gear but that's alright because I have a player collection of him anyways. I picked this up for a $.25/shipped. It is only the 8th card in the Tim Hardaway Jr Collection.

Thursday Mail Day

I've started picking up cheap cards again, although, currently I'm only putting a quarter max bid since Christmas is rolling up on us and I should probably spend a couple of bucks on the kids. So, let's get started.

2010 Topps 206
I picked this up for $.15/shipped. Which was even better when I found out it was a short print. Obviously, this goes towards the Ryan Zimmerman Collection.

2016 Topps Update
2016 Topps Update
I picked up both of these cards for the White Sox Collection. They both came from the same seller who had free shipping. I picked up the Austin Jackson for $.16 and the Todd Frazier for $.21.

Random Cards

I got some time to throw out a random post. I've been filling my time trying to log in all the cards I got from my cousin. He bought a bunch of cards from some lady and sold all the 1987 and older cards to me at a penny a card. We rounded down to an even $30 so as you can see, I have a bunch of cards to get logged in. I got them all into years and manufacturers to make the logging in easier. The only set I've logged in so far is the 1982 Donruss set, the cards he sent me took that all the way to a 63%. It started at less than 10% (I don't remember what it was). I'm working on the 1986 Donruss set right now but I'm only 160 or so cards in.

Let's get to the random cards.
