Sportlots - Tier 3 PC's, part 2

I missed a day of posting, I was snoozing hard after sleeping to much over the weekend and then not enough on Sunday night. Either way, we're back to add the next post to my Tier 3 collections.

We'll start off with some Schmidt's. I'm not sure I've ever seen that first card before and I remembered having the whole set of 1989 Fleer. When I logged it though, I realized it is from the update set. These 3 give me 136 cards of him.

I love these because I remember collecting the stickers in the sticker books. When I saw them on Sportlots, I knew those were the 3 I was going to buy. They give me 65 for the Yaz collection.

Sportlots - Tier 3 PC's

I finally heard back from Sportlots about the missing package. Basically they said, it's still missing. He refunded me what I paid as well as a little extra so I'll be alright with it. He said it may show up later and if it does, he'll send it my way. I guess that's the advantage of buying such cheap cards, when they get lost, it's not so devastating as really having the card that you really wanted. I usually spend around $5 a week (I'm still a cheap ass) and since I had an extra $3, I spent $8 this week on my biggest package yet, 43 cards.

Speaking of Sportlots, I'm gonna start to show off my first purchases from the site. I was new to the site (still am) so I'd search by player, find a seller that offers free shipping to Sportlots and then I would search the seller for each of my player collections. I would find the 3 oldest, cheapest cards and then go to the next player. I'm sure the way I search will change, especially since the search on that site really is a pain in the ass, you can't even search by teams.

Anyways, I'll show off a couple of my tier 3 pick-ups today.

Not only did I get 3 Gary Carter's but all 3 go to the Vintage collection as well. Not to mention, I love the 1982 Fleer set, it was the first Fleer set I remember buying in packs. These 3 give me 124 cards of the Kid, 71 cards for the 1982 set and 634 cards in the 1985 set.

These 3 Ripken's add to my highest count player collection. They put it at 469 cards, slowly getting to 500.

Sluggo - Vintage (50's)

Today is the last post of the Vintage that Sluggo sent me, then I'll start getting into my first Sportlots purchase. Let's see what Yankee, I mean, Vintage cards we got from the 50's.

We'll start with the 59's. I actually have to look up the 50's cards to see what year they are, I don't know them as well. These 2 give me 9 cards for that set and only 4 of those are White Sox cards.

I got 1 from 1955 Topps. It's only my 6th from that set and only 1 of those is a Sox card.

I even received a 1955 Bowman which are definitely rare to me. This is only my 4th with only one of those being a Sox card.

Last but not least, I got 4 cards for the 1953 Topps set. Guess how many cards I now have from that set? That's right, 4. These were the first 4 cards I have gotten from 1953 and according to TCDB, they are my oldest cards now.

Sluggo - Vintage (1962-1960)

I'm back with more free vintage goodies from my cousin, who informed me the other day he has another box for me. I'll probably get it when he takes it in to work to ship it. He's allowed to ship on the company dime so it never costs him anything. Wouldn't that be nice?

Today we are going to finish off the 60's. Yesterday we finished on 1963 so guess where we're starting today?

That's right, 1962, and only 1 Yankee. These 2 from the original wood grain set give me 12 cards for a 1.7% completion. Not sure why I bother listing the percentage when it's that low. I have a little more in the next set listed.

Ohh, there's the Yankees. The guy he bought this collection off was definitely a Yankee fan. These 6 cards from the 1960 Topps set put that one at 41 cards (told you it was more) which is a little over 7% completed. I knew I had a bunch from this set because I picked up a bunch of White Sox from it at a card show a few years ago. As a matter of fact, out of those 41 cards I have, only 13 of them aren't White Sox, and that includes the above 6.

He also gave me some non Vintage collection cards, but only because I only collect the base sets from the big 3.

Gotta love the oddball sets. I would buy a ton of cereal if they started putting cards back on the boxes.

Guess what? I'm not done, I have some even older cards to show off in my next post. We'll be hitting the 50's.

Sluggo - Vintage (1969-1963)

I'm back with more vintage from Sluggo, today will hit on the 60's, 1969-1963 to be exact. Once again, be prepared to see a lot of Yankees.

Just 1 card from the 1969 set. This card gives me 49 cards from that set which puts it at 7% completed.

These 2 from 1968 give me 39 cards from this set which puts it at 6.5% complete. To be honest, I don't really remember picking up that many cards of either set but that's what it says I have.

While I do recognize a couple of the names above, I really recognize this one. This 1966 Topps makes 34 cards and 5.7% completed.

I do like the pennants on this set, now if it didn't have that pink. As you should know, if the cards are going to have a solid border, it should at least be a color of the team represented. These 2 from the 1965 set make 24 cards and 4% completed.

This is my 24th card from the 1964 set. This might be my favorite set from the 60's but I couldn't really tell you an exact reason for that. This set is also at 4% completed.

Considering every other card on this post is a posed shot, that Yanks World Series card is probably my favorite from this post. These 4 cards boost my 1963 set to 12 cards and 2% completed.

I still have 2 more posts of vintage from Sluggo. Will we make it to the 50's and if so, how far? Or did I get a bunch of 1962-1960 and that's the last 2 posts. Stay tuned to find out.
