Welcome

This blog is about sports cards. I tend to only purchase cheap items so don't come hear expecting to see big money cards. My teams collections are Chicago White Sox and Michigan Wolverines. I also have a bunch of player collections.

Lotta Zimmy

I have lots of cards to show of this recent retiree so let's just get to it.

2008

2009

2010

2011-2012

2012

2013

2014

2015

2016

2017-2018

That is a lot of Zimmerman's, 147 to be exact. All of the above came from Sportlots.

But wait, there's more.

I also picked up this serial numbered blue version of A Piece of History at the Shipshewana in the dollar box.

These 148 cards give me 339 cards, a rather big boost I must say.

Parallels and Yearbooks

The White Sox are on an off day but at least they are winning again. They've won the last 3, 2 of those a sweep over the Cubs which is always a good thing.

Speaking of...

First up, I have some 2022 cards that Fred brought to me. The first 2 Opening Day cards are no longer with us, not sad about Kimbrel, I was about Rodon. I also like that the Southside jersey is shown in the Abreu card. I do like the black pinstripes. I like picking up Hendriks cards as well, I love his passion for the game.

I picked up both of these at the LCS in the dime box. I like Abreu, Keuchel has really struggled the last couple of years.

These 2 stickers and a vintage Sox card came from Sportlots. I grabbed them from a seller that I only had 1 card picked out so I grabbed a few more on the cheap. If you would have asked me, I would have said I had the Bob Locker card, but apparently not.

These all came from the dollar boxes at the Shipshewana. Other than the Frank Thomas (90's insert) and the Tommy John (1969), they are all parallels. The Collins, Appling and Hansen are all numbered.

These 9 cards all came from Sluggo's boxes so they are all at least a couple bucks a piece. That first Abreu is a short print followed by a bunch more parallels.

The next 2 items I came across at the Shipshewana show. The dealer is the guy who runs the Plymouth show that we set up at. I really wanted them but I already dropped more money than I wanted at the show. I told him if he didn't sell them, to bring them to the Plymouth show the next week and I'd buy them.

I thought these were pretty cool. I couldn't wait to get to Plymouth and see if he still had them. They are pretty thick books. I don't have them in front of me but I'd guess about 30 pages or so. There isn't anything real fancy in them but they are still pretty awesome.

Blue Tuesday

Since the draft is over and I added 10 more names (5 drafted, 5 signed FA contracts) to start collecting, it's only fitting that the Michigan pulls up on the random. We'll see if I get to collect all 10 on whether they get some cards.

These were all Shipshewana dollar box pick-ups but the LaMarre. He had a bunch of Michigan autos but I had so many cards already that I just picked up this one, mainly because I don't have very many Michigan baseball autographs, and he played for the Sox for a short stint.

I picked this up at the LCS, I actually didn't pay anything for it. My cousin bought a whole stack of cards so he threw this dime box card in.

I also picked these up at the Mishawaka card show, also all dollar box pick-ups except the 2 autos and those both came from the guy who sets up next to us so he gave me a good deal on both. Always liked the mini helmet autographs, I believe this is the 2nd one I have and the other one is a Brandon as well.

Here's the rundown of the player card amounts.

  • Tim Biakabutuka - 12 cards
  • Tim Jamison - 6 cards
  • Chris Webber - 12 cards
  • Ryan LaMarre - 3 cards
  • Charles Woodson - 10 cards
  • LaMarr Woodley - 7 cards
  • Chad Henne - 24 cards
  • Anthony Carter - 9 cards
  • Brandon Minor - 1 card

Shiny Southside

I spent Sunday scanning cards for TCDB. I just went to delete all the copies on my computer and I added 208 scans. Which is approximately 104 cards, front and back, because most of them but I did have a couple just fronts and just backs so it probably was close to evening out. I was surprised I did that many, usually I get going and then get tired of doing it. I was planning on going to Sluggo's to help him with some cards but I was actually going so well with the scanning that I stuck to it. One of the guys I scanned is today's post.

He's currently in the minors on a rehab stint so hopefully he'll be back soon.

Fred gave me this Opening Day of Yoan, it might be my first card in their Southside jerseys but I could be wrong.

I bought both of these from Sluggo's boxes, or I should say that I'm working them off. They'll be worked off when we do our next show but as of now, that's not until the 23rd.

These 3 cards give me 167 cards of Yoyo. Hopefully he'll be back this week.

Poole Day

After 5 straight birthday posts, I finally get to post a real post.

Randomly enough, this guy has been lighting it up in the NBA playoffs the last couple of weeks.

Picked up both of these Jordan Poole's in the dollar box at the Shipshewana show. My Poole collection is slowly increasing now that he's been playing well, I've been finding them a lot easier. These 2 give me 24 cards of him.
