I’m collecting the 1981 set, slowly but surely. This post is the latest in my quest for the completion. - Card Facts – Bud Harrelson – Texas Rangers – Card # 694
- Purchase Price – $0.11 (part of a lot – 9/$.99)
- On the back (toon, bottom left) – none
- On the back (toon, bottom right) – none
- Signed by the Mets as an amateur free agent in 1963.
- Debut – September 2, 1965
- 1965-1977 (Mets), 1978-1979 (Phillies), 1980 (Rangers)
- Born in Niles, CA
No toons on the back of this card either, but because he has played 16 seasons and his stats take up the whole card. He had exactly 1400 games at Shortstop, 80 games at 2nd base and 1 game in the outfield in his 16 seasons. Made the all-star game in 1970 and 1971. A gold glove in 1971. Ranked in the top 5 in 4 different seasons for putout’s from a Shortstop. Was on the 1969 “Miracle Mets” that won the World Series. Made another appearance in the 1973 World Series with the Mets but in a losing effort against the Oakland A’s. But the most important fact is we share a birthday.
- Cards I have in this set – 6
- Total price paid – $0.66
- Average price per card – $0.11
- Cards left to purchase – 720
