1973 Topps–Denny Riddleberger #157

I’m collecting the 1973 set, slowly but surely. This post is the latest in my quest for the completion.

  • Card Facts – Denny Riddleberger – Cleveland Indians – Card #157
  • Purchase Price – $.11 (Ebay lot, 40/$4.25)
  • On the back (toon) – Denny is a draftsman in the off-season.
    • “Denny led all Indian fireman in 1972 with his 2.50 Earned Run Average, he was used in middle inning stints mostly against lefthanded batters.  Denny’s biggest thrill in baseball was his 1st appearance in big leagues, for Senators in September, 1970.”
  • Signed by the Pittsburgh Pirates as an amateur free agent in 1967.
  • Debut – September 15, 1970.
  • 1970-1971 (Senators), 1972 (Indians)
  • Born in Clifton Forge, VA.
  • Attended Old Dominion University.

Pitched in 103 games in his major league career, 95 of those in the last 2 seasons.  Pitched exclusively in relief.
