I’m collecting the 1973 set, slowly but surely. This post is the latest in my quest for the completion.
- Card Facts – Larry Bowa – Philadelphia Phillies – Card #119
- Purchase Price – $.11 (Ebay lot, 40/$4.25)
- On the back (toon) – Larry led NL with 650 At-bats in 1971.
- “Larry is one of the NL’s finest fielding shortstops. He set a new major league record in 1971 with his .987 Fielding Pct; he committed only 11 errors all season. In 1972 he broke his own record, committing only 9 errors in 150 games. Larry hits his first major league Homer in 1972".”
- Signed by the Philadelphia Phillies as an amateur free agent in 1965.
- Debut – April 7, 1970
- 1970-1981 (Phillies), 1982-1985 (Cubs), 1985 (Mets)
- Born in Sacramento, CA
While I knew Larry played for the Phillies, I’m more familiar with him with the Cubs. I watched a lot of Cubs games in the mid 80’s because with WGN, they were on all the time.
